
Admissions Requirements
The International University of Grand-Bassam strives to recruit qualified students for successful completion of degrees at IUGB. Admission requirements have been established in accordance with the University vision and approved by the IUGB Board. They are based on acceptable levels of English and Mathematics, on completion of secondary school with good standing, on personal qualities and good conduct.
Secondary Education
Completion of secondary school with good academic standing and acceptable Baccalauréat or equivalent exam results
Personal Qualities
Demonstrated good conduct, personal qualities, and commitment to academic excellence
Alternative Pathways
SAT or ACT scores accepted as alternative qualifications for students without the Baccalauréat

Academic Qualification
One of the following is required for admission
Baccalauréat
Successful completion of the Baccalauréat examination
SAT® Minimum Score
Critical Reading 450+ & Math 500+
ACT® Composite
Minimum composite 21, with 10+ in each section
English Proficiency
One of the following English test scores is required
TOEFL® Internet-Based
Minimum score of 71 on the internet-based test
TOEFL® ITP / Paper-Based
Minimum score of 530 on the ITP or PBT format
IELTS® Academic
Minimum overall band score of 6.0

Admission Procedure
Follow these four steps to complete your application
Apply Early
Submit your application online through the IUGB Student Portal at my.iugb.edu.ci as early as possible.
Submit Documents
Provide all required documents including transcripts, exam scores, recommendation letter, and identification.
Meet Deadline
Complete your application at least one month before classes start to ensure timely processing.
Begin Classes
Once admitted, complete registration and begin your academic journey at IUGB.
Application Checklist
All documents are due one month before classes start
Note: International students should be aware that the IUGB residence hall is closed during university vacations, including summer. Students should plan accordingly for housing during vacation periods.
Transfer Credits: Previously earned credits will be evaluated for potential transfer. Credits from accredited institutions may be accepted based on course equivalency review.
Important: Discovery of falsification of documents would result in automatic expulsion.
Visiting Status: Visiting students are admitted on a temporary basis and must meet the same academic standards as regular students. Contact the admissions office for detailed information about visiting student enrollment.

All admitted students must take an English placement test. Based on the results, students are placed into one of three academic levels.
The placement test determines the student's readiness for university-level coursework. Each level provides the appropriate academic support to help students succeed.
University Level
Full Undergraduate Status
Students who demonstrate strong English proficiency are placed directly into undergraduate courses and can begin their degree program immediately.
Degree ProgramUPP Level
University Preparatory Program
Students needing additional academic preparation are enrolled in the University Preparatory Program to strengthen English and foundational skills before entering degree courses.
Preparatory TrackCCE
Center for Continuing Education
Students who require intensive English language support are enrolled in the Center for Continuing Education program to build fundamental language skills.

Admission Decisions
The admissions committee can make the following recommendations
Fully Admitted
Undergraduate status granted. Student meets all admission requirements and can begin regular coursework immediately.
Conditionally Admitted
Undergraduate status with conditions. Student may need to fulfill additional requirements during their first semester.
Pre-Undergraduate
Admitted to the University Preparatory Program (UPP) or Center for Continuing Education (CCE) for additional preparation.
Not Admitted
Based on prior behavior in UPP, CCE, or IUGB courses; criminal record; or other disqualifying factors.
University Preparatory Program
The UPP is designed to help students who need additional academic preparation before entering the undergraduate program. Students progress through the program based on their demonstrated performance.
Entrance Criteria
- Students who do not meet the minimum English or academic score requirements for direct undergraduate admission
- Students whose placement test results indicate they need foundational preparation
- Students referred by the admissions committee for additional academic support
Exit Criteria
- Achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher in all UPP courses
- Complete all required UPP coursework successfully
- Alternatively, achieve the required TOEFL® score for direct undergraduate admission
- Receive recommendation from UPP faculty and academic advisors
Additional Options
Deferred Enrollment
Admitted students may request to defer their enrollment to a future semester. Contact the admissions office to discuss deferral options and maintain your admission status.
Readmission
Former IUGB students who have been away for one or more semesters may apply for readmission. The readmission process includes a review of previous academic standing.
Non-Credit Courses
IUGB offers non-credit courses through the Center for Continuing Education (CCE) for those interested in professional development or personal enrichment.
